Kinetic energy is the energy associated with the motion of a mass particle. Alternatively, it is defined as the work needed to accelerate a body of a given mass from rest to its stated velocity. Sounds confusing? Let us take a particle of mass M at rest. Your goal is to achieve a velocity of V. Therefore, you must apply an external force and perform some work to possess the velocity.
